Hamptons Community Radio

Our mission is two fold: First is to make good ….no, GREAT radio, and Second is to serve the community. Making great radio does serve the community but we want and expect to be more. The East End is a beautiful, vibrant ,energetic, active, involved, caring, and growing community. We want to promote it. Instead of Commercials, we want to air PSA (public service announcements) and community events. We want to let everyone know what is going onaround town. We want to be involved in your good work….publicize it and help you get community support.Although there are many good commercial radio stations, their goal has two prongs: to get ratings and to make theirsponsors happy ….as it should be with commercial radio. There is only one non-commercial signal that has any roots inthe east end and that is Southampton’s campus radiostation. All of the other non-commercial signals are based inConnecticut and have NO connection with the community. We Want To Be Part Of Your Community!

Committed to creating a wide-ranging radio resource for people of the South Fork,Hamptons Community Radio Corporation will provide a wealth of music programming and public service announcements, but will also be a vital forum for discussions of the issues that impact the day-to-day lives of our local residents:

● Health Issues─including short-form and Q&A programs with specialists to answer health questions, plus multi-lingual programs on health issues of concern to immigrant groups

● Employment─featuring a daily program segment with information on employment issues and job openings in the region

● Housing and Zoning─providing an on-air roundtable for analyzing real estate and critical housing issues, such as zoning and the unavailability of low-cost and moderately priced housing

● Education─offering broadcasts on public school concerns, such as immigrant student populations, taxation, school board meetings, and sporting events, plus establishing a program that allows local students to work as unpaid interns and learn about radio

● Public Safety─presenting alerts about dangerous weather conditions and other life-threatening situations, emergency services, evacuation routes, and product recalls

● Senior Citizens and the Aging─reaching out to seniors and handicapped people in the Hamptons with senior-oriented programs, and providing easy-to-use audio software for Senior Centers and the home-bound elderly

● Agriculture/Aquaculture/Fishing─developing an on-air forum for discussion and dialogue on local crop farming, fish farming, vineyards, and both commercial and recreational fishing fleets

● Governmental Affairs─making air-time available for representatives of local government entities to inform the public, as well as broadcasting live election returns
